Boat trips depend on good weather. When conditions at sea are not safe for sailing, we don't want you to lose your money or your holiday plans. That's why every Fun Island booking comes with our weather-back guarantee at no extra cost.
What It Covers
The weather-back guarantee applies when your skipper determines that sea conditions are unsafe for departure. This includes strong winds, high waves, thunderstorms, and any other conditions that would put passengers at risk.
The guarantee covers the full amount you have paid, including your deposit. There are no hidden fees or deductions.
How Weather Decisions Work
Your skipper monitors the marine forecast leading up to your trip. If conditions look unsafe, they will contact you the evening before or early on the morning of your scheduled departure. The skipper makes the final call based on real-time conditions and professional judgement.
This decision is made by the skipper, not by Fun Island. Skippers are licensed professionals who prioritise passenger safety above all else. If conditions are borderline, the skipper may delay departure rather than cancel outright.
Your Options: Reschedule or Refund
When a trip is cancelled due to weather, you have two choices:
- Reschedule for free: pick another available date on the same boat at no additional cost. If the price has changed since your original booking, you pay the original price.
- Full refund: receive a complete refund of your deposit. Refunds are processed to your original payment method.
You do not need to decide immediately. Your skipper or our team will reach out with available dates, and you can take your time choosing.
Timeline
- Weather notification: the evening before or early morning of your trip.
- Rescheduling: available immediately. Just pick a new date that works for you and the skipper.
- Refund processing: initiated within 2 business days of your request. Depending on your bank, the funds typically appear within 5-10 business days.
What Is Not Covered
The weather-back guarantee does not apply to cancellations made by you for personal reasons, even if the weather looks uncertain. It also does not cover situations where conditions change after departure. If the skipper decides it is safe to leave and conditions change during the trip, the skipper will adjust the route or return to shore early for safety.
For cancellations not related to weather, our standard cancellation policy applies: free cancellation up to 48 hours before departure, non-refundable within 48 hours.
